I found out this morning that my second grade teacher, Mrs. Hannel, passed away earlier this week. You know how everyone has that one special teacher that was their all-time favorite in every way? That was Mrs. Hannel. She always told me I had “the gift of gab.” I got more time-outs in that class than in all my other classes, in any grade, combined.

I was sad too. She was a great lady. I remember when she tied my friend Nick to his desk with yarn. If second grade teachers could still do that we might not have all the problems with high school students now.

It sounds like she was a very strict teacher. It’s sad when someone you like passes away, but I’m glad that there are people out there who realize that strict teachers are like that because they care.
(Most are anyway).
