MORNING PRAYER
Call To Prayer
“Come!” my heart says, “seek His face.”
Your face, Lord, do I seek.
Psalm
Choose a Psalm to pray for the week. You can go to http://www.pcusa.org/cgi-bin/lectiond.cgi to use the lectionary Psalm for the week (click on “Next Sunday” and choose from the second list of texts); or you can just begin with Psalm 1 and work your way through.
Pray the Psalm slowly and deliberately – let the prayer of the Psalm be your own.
The Jesus Creed
The Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, with all of your soul, with all of your mind and with all of your strength. The second command is this: love your neighbor as yourself. There is no command greater than these.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our father in heaven, may your name be honored above every other name.
Make your kingdom present among us, and let your will be done here just as in heaven.
Provide for our needs today and keep us mindful of those in need.
Forgive our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Keep us away from temptation and save us from the evil one.
Everything, all power and glory and praise, belongs to you forever. Amen.
If you prefer, pray the Lord’s Prayer in whatever way you are most familiar with.
St. Patrick’s Prayer
I arise today through God’s strength to pilot me:
God’s might to uphold me, God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me, God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me, God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me, God’s shield to protect me.
May Christ be with me, before me, and behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.
